Article The Influences of E-commerce on the Spatial Relationships among Manufactures: The Empirical Study of
Author Jen-Jia Lin, Yeh-Tin Lin
Abstract

The application of information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the major tendencies in the future. Many studies print several kinds of possible influences of ICT on industrial locations. These possible influences were seldom to be empirically proved in Taiwan. This study aims to empirically analyze the influences of E-commerce on the distribution of information and electronic (IE) manufacturers. The samples were investigated in Taipei area and the linear regression analysis is applied to examine the hypotheses. The empirical results find that the E-commerce enlarges the distance between IE manufacturers and their inputs suppliers. However, the above mentioned distance for the IE manufacturers who present strong backward linkage or locate in large-scale industry zones will be decreased after the application of E-commerce. Additionally, E-commerce enlarges the distance between IE manufacturers and their outputs buyers. Based on the empirical conclusions and the goals of travel demand satisfaction and management, the study recommends strategies for the industrial land use planning.

Article Transitional Space of Huashan: The Art Space as a Way of Presentation of Culture Industry
Author Chun-Ju Li, Pin-Tzu Chen
Abstract

Adopting the critical perspective of Frankfurt School on culture industry, this study discusses the transitional space of Huashan from the Art District into the Industrial Park of Cultural and Creative Industries, with the focus concerning art space, creativity and body experience, to question the dominated role of ideology, and to find out the creative meaning under the ideological suppression. In keeping with the tide of the culture industry, Huashan not only reflects the functional space corresponding to the capitalistic logic on production and marketing, but also manifests the thinking that the art system is driven by consumption and entertainment, which results in the commercialization, vulgarization and bureaucratization of the space, the transformation of the art space into a space that could embrace the public, and the crisis that the creativity and autonomy of art is deliberately co-opted. However, underlying these driving forces, a compromised yet resistant process for practice is emerging, which through the experience of formal and informal activities, the spontaneous revolution, and the pleasure of evading social subjectivity, is capable of reversing the unbalance in power relationship, reawaking the potential of autonomous subversion, and overthrowing the representational dominance over the space, and as a result to overcome the commercialization and alienation of the space to create the new possibilities for practice and identity.

Article The Application of Fuzzy Multiple Criteria Decision Making to Assess the Service Quality of the Elde
Author Wei-Ming Wang, Fu-Sheng Chang
Abstract

Taiwan has been an aging society by the elderly increasing persistently, and the problem of dwelling and the enjoying stability both physically and spiritually for the elderly is becoming a very important issue in social development. This paper aimed at the demand of the service quality for the elderly housing. We based on the model of the PZB, and employed the Fuzzy Multiple Criteria Decision Making method (MCDM). Which combined the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the fuzzy theory to establish an evaluation model for translating the quality proposition into quantization estimation. This evaluation model was applied to assess and illustrate the gap of the service quality between consumers and the three types of the most common senior citizen housing in the market.

Article A Study of Community Residents' Attitudes on the Impact of Urban Tourism: A Case Study from Anping D
Author Kung-Hung Chen
Abstract

This study is to explore the community residents' attitudes toward urban tourism impact in the traditional Anping district where Yenping Street (延平街), Fort Street(古堡街) and Anping Road (安平路) are located in Tainan city in Taiwan. This study accepts the perspective of "the harmony and oneness between urban tourism and community life and space" proposed by Ashworth, Haywood, Van der Borg, Gilbert and Clark. And, we attempt to investigate the traditional Anping community residents' attitudes toward urban tourism from the viewpoint of the concepts of "urban tourism-community relations". Three major research methods are applied, including related theories and literature review, empirical study (data collecting, questionnaire, field survey) and analysis and interpretation. Questionnaire is administered to 206 valid samples of community residents. The study of the impact of tourism on communities has been occupied by theorists and researchers from a broad range of disciplines since the early 1970s. As a result of the extent of tourism impact literature is both expansive and diverse. However, a review of the literature reveals a limited amount of published material related to impacts on urban area in Taiwan, especially in cultural tourism area such as Anping district in Tainan city. This study divides urban tourism impact into five types including economic, social, cultural, physical/ecological and general perception, allows for an analysis which concludes with the types of impacts that residents perceive bases upon cultural tourist activities acted in three traditional shopping streets and neighboring ancient heritage sites in Anping district. The findings of this study indicate that some tourism impact criteria resident response within Anping community center with a higher level of tourism development are negative, although other are positive. In the meantime, the results of this study reveal a number of interesting possibilities regarding perceptions of urban impact.

Abstract

The essence of this paper is to clarify in the global industry restructuring process of city-region Shanghai's cultural spatial capital (e.g. Song-jiang College-town). As we know, some urban research literatures and discourses have been proved the spatial capital's transfer process which is gradually become a significant spatial mechanism in China local state's development strategy; i.e., foreign capital (flows), spatial planning policies, and local authority…etc. These spatial development mechanisms indicate that city-region's land commodity economic briskness were fountain of efficient (district (qu)) government and its nimble enterprise government's marketing, they will restructure local spatial re-productive/re-consuming, that phenomenon are distinction between West or Taiwan, even differ from communistic urban regime in the past China party government.
